Procedures for authorizing DOS/Embassy personnel to shop the Exchange Catalog and Exchange Online Store
DEPARTMENT OF STATE/EMBASSY ASSOCIATES* are authorized to shop the Exchange Catalog and Exchange Online Store through Army and Air Force joint regulation AR 60-20/AFJI 34-210, paragraph 2-11 b. (1).  Here is how to activate Exchange Online privileges:
  • Contact your local Employee Commissary/Recreation Association General Manager.  They will collect the appropriate information, verify your eligibility and provide your information to the Office of Commissary and Recreation Affairs for enrollment with AAFES.
  • If there is no employee commissary/recreation association at your post, send an email to militaryshopping@state.gov.  Someone will contact you to verify your eligibility (be prepared to provide a copy of your travel orders).

*Direct-hired DOS/Embassy associates only are authorized.  Does not include DOS/Embassy contractors or local hires.

If shipping an order to yourself, you must have a valid APO/FPO or Department of State pouch address.  Orders may be placed online, faxed, mailed from an APO/FPO address or placed at a local exchange.  Once your Exchange Online privileges have been established, you can find detailed information on placing order, phone numbers, etc., by clicking on “Customer Service” at www.aafes.com after you’ve completed the log-in process.
